Southeastern Louisiana University

Math Awareness 2004
Problem Solving Contest

As part of our annual celebration of Mathematics, Southeastern Louisiana University is sponsoring a problem solving contest for students in grades 5 through 12. The contest will run 19 April through 23 April 2004. Each morning, there will be three new problems posted-- one each for Grades 5 and 6, Grades 7 and 8, and Grades 9 through 12. Each student is encouraged to work the problems and submit their own answers via the interactive form provided.

Go ahead and try all of the problems. However, only submit solutions to those problems for the grade in which you're enrolled. Your solutions must be received by 11:59 pm on the day the problem is posted. Our solutions will be posted the next day so don't forget to check back and see if you're right!

Those students submitting correct answers over the course of the week will be entered in a drawing for fabulous prizes! The teachers of all participants will also be entered in a drawing for an additional prize.

Any questions may be directed to Dr. Kent Neuerburg, Department of Mathematics, SLU Box 687, Hammond, LA 70402, Tel. 985-549-2204, or by e-mail kneuerburg@selu.edu

Good Luck!
