REQUIRED TEXT: No required book.
OBJECTIVES: The purpose of these courses is to provide non-CS majors with basic computer skills including proficiency in commonly used PC software (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), basic descriptive statistics, digital logic, and an introduction to computer science and programming. The computer programming will be focused on learning the fundamentals with BASIC. The class will presented using both a mix of theory and hands-on exercises.

Basic programming, Final Exam
All test dates and assignment due dates will be announced in class and/or
via email at least one week ahead of time.
All dates are firm. Schedule may be modified to adapt to the needs of
the class.

*All assignments are due at
the beginning of class on due date. Early submission is encouraged.
Assignments will earn one of the following scores:
10/10 – All parts are
complete and correct. Only one or two very minor errors here.
5/10 – Assignment contains a
few minor omissions or incorrect answers.
0/10 – Assignment contains
many errors and/or substantial omissions, or is turned in late.
Final
semester grades are based on ten-point scale, NO CURVING, NO EXTRA CREDIT.
ATTENDANCE: Absences will have an adverse effect on your grade in the following ways: missed quiz points, missed announcements concerning assignments and due dates, non-exposure to material not directly covered in text. There is no excuse for late assignments or missed tests.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY: University policy will be followed for cases involving alleged academic dishonesty. Copying any part of another student’s assignment or exam is CHEATING. Allowing another student to copy is also CHEATING. Cheating earns an F for the course.
CLASSROOM DECORUM: The following activities are considered unacceptable in the classroom: eating, drinking, use of tobacco, use of electronic equipment, use of beepers or phones, profanity, sleeping, acting in an unsafe manner, repeatedly talking without being recognized, habitual tardiness.
