You will be required to communicate with the faculty and other students throughout the semester. The primary methods of communication will be e-mail and listserv.  Students can also meet with faculty during office hours or contact faculty by telephone. Phone numbers and office hours are posted below under Course Specific Information.  Any communication with faculty or other students enrolled in the course should be professional in nature. On-line discussions that are not related to course content will not be tolerated. Language must be in compliance with Southeastern Louisiana University’s Conduct Policy.
 

MEET THE CLASS

    The vertical toolbar that is located on the left side of the course home page has a Meet the Class option. Your first assignment is to complete the student bibliography located at:
 
ONLINE CLASS RECORD INFORMATION FORM. 
When completing the form be sure to enter the e-mail account that you wish to receive mail at during the semester. In addition please submit a picture, either by e-mail or regular mail, to be downloaded at this site. This format provides students an opportunity to get to know each other and will help you put a “face” to a “name”.

E-mail

    Students are encouraged to use e-mail as the primary source of communication with faculty (wbond@selu.edu). This method of communication should be utilized to direct questions to faculty regarding course content, clarify course assignments, and submit written assignments.

    If you need information on how to communicate by e-mail refer to Skills and Equipment Cheklist and Help.

    All assignments are due on time and points will be deducted for any assignment submitted late.

    Faculty will respond to e-mail at designated time frames.All e-mail will be answered by the day preceeding the online or on-campus class. For Tuesday on-campus class, e-mail will be answered by Monday 12 noon, and for Thursday online class, e-mail will be answered by Wednesday noon.

Listserv

    The listserv provides a mailing list for all students enrolled in the class. Only those student enrolled in the class will receive messages via listserv.

 Course Specific Information

    Students enrolled in Botany 401/501 will receive e-mail responses from Dr. Bond on Mondays and Wednesdays by 10:30 am. Dr. Bond can be reached by phone at 549-3442.  If it is an emergency, you can contact Dr. Bond through the Department of Biology Office by phone (504)549-3740 or fax (504)549-3851.
