WEB BASED GRADE INPUT!! |

Article - July 7, 1999
It's here! Project LEO is currently testing Southeastern's new web-based grade input system. A pilot group of faculty volunteers is currently being sought through the academic departments. Faculty will use browsers such as Netscape to access a web page that shows a class roster for a specific class section. Drop-down boxes will allow faculty to enter the letter grade for each student. A "submit" button will send the data to Enrollment Services and the new PeopleSoft system for further processing. "Using point-and-click technology, faculty will find this new grade input system to be extremely user-friendly," said Registrar Steve Soutullo, director of Enrollment Services. "Once the pilot group tests the new system and gives us some feedback, we will use web- based grade input for all class sections in the fall semester. Very tight security is part of the new system--only the instructor can access the web pages for the courses he or she teaches." Bobbye Davis, assistant dean in the College of Business and chair of the Project LEO Training Team said, "We wanted the web pages to be so easy to use that no training was necessary. But just in case there are any questions, assistance will be just a phone call away. I'm very excited about this project--I was one of the first faculty to sign up for the pilot!" Faculty members who are teaching
this summer and would like to be a part of this pilot project should contact
their respective department heads to volunteer
