A new timekeeping system
has been delivered through the efforts of Project LEO.
Beginning Feb. 25, all student
workers will clock in and out using the recently installed TimeCentre 2000e
system. Under this new system developed by Knoetx, student workers will
be able to sign in from either TimeCenter wall TimeClock stations, or on
the web using on online eTimeClock.
The new TimeClock stations
are conveniently situated throughout the campus. Ten stations are already
in place and one more will soon be added in North Oak Park.
Student workers with computer
access can view and edit their time sheets from any location and at any
time, so long as the computer in use has Internet access and Internet Explorer
5.0 installed on it. Students will be able to view their electronic timesheets
and approve them online. Overall savings in time and labor will be the
end result.
"This new system will make
it easier for [students] to keep up with the time they work," commended
Erin Buratt, SGA Vice President. "It will help the information get reported
accurately and they will be paid accurately."
In an effort to help student
workers learn about the new system, sessions will be held throughout campus.
Beginning today, Feb. 10, and continuing through Friday, Feb. 18. Students
will learn how to clock in with the TimeClock stations and the web-based
eTimeClock system, as well as how to certify their time sheets. Each session
will last approximately 45 minutes. All student workers should make an
effort to attend one of the sessions. A time clock training schedule is
available at the Southeastern web page, www.selu.edu. Students do not need
to register for the sessions.
Konetix has provided the
new timekeeping system to Southeastern in exchange for serving as a beta
test site for the new TimeCentre technology. The Project LEO team is hoping
to drastically reduce the amount of paper needed for time and attendance
documentation. The implementation of the Konetix system has also proven
to be timely, given that the university's antiquated Kronos timekeeping
system was not Y2K compliant.
Updates to the TimeCentre
2000e web site will be made frequently to keep students up to date with
the new technology and related issues.
