For centuries, the
mighty Mississippi River has served as a conduit of culture as well as
commerce. Join us as the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra explores the
rich history with musical offerings starting with Rameau, winding
through the heydey of virtuoso violin playing, and ending in the 20th century
with Grofe’s Mississippi Suite, and tunes from “Showboat.” Historical commentary
will provided by the inimitable Mark Twain!
