Mike Super
January 5 7:30 pm Okay,
so what’s inside that box hanging from
the corner of Northshore Broadcasting building in the middle of downtown
Hammond? Here’s the scoop …
In the box is a cassette tape containing famed illusionist Mike Super’s prediction of what he believes the headlines of the Hammond Daily Star will be on Jan. 4 -- the day before he performs at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts. The box has been personally locked by Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards – and he’s keeping the key. The locked box has been suspended from the radio station building at a tamper-resistant second-story height. (It’s right outside DJ “Johnny in the Morning” Chauvin’s window. He’s promised to keep an eye on it.) On Super’s show day -- January 5 -- Sheriff Edwards will hand over the key and the tape will be played. If Super’s headlines predictions are wrong, he will personally refund patrons who purchased their tickets prior to January 5. Fun, huh? And that's just the beginning. Wait until you see the show! Above, Tangiphaoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards and the Columbia Theatre's Pete Pfeil lock the box containing Mike Super's Daily Star headlines prediction before hoisting the box to the second story of the Northshore Broadcasting building on East Thomas St. in downtown Hammond. With
his natural ability to entertain and fascinate people, illusionist Mike
Super -- winner of the title of "Phenomenon" on the hit NBC show -- has
pioneered a new form of magic with his own unmatched style and personality.
He transcends “trick” and connects personally with his audience on a level
to which they can relate. Super’s ever growing popularity has garnered
him many prestigious honors including the 2002 Performing Arts Entertainer
of the Year, 2003 American’s Best Entertainer of the Year, and the 2003
Best Live Novelty Performance.
