Bev Marshall and Alison Pelegrin
Two talented authors – who are also Southeastern faculty members – will read from their award-winning works. Pelegrin (left), recipient of a creative writing fellowship in poetry from the National Endowment of the Arts, will share poems from her newest book, Big Muddy River of Stars, winner of the Akron Poetry Prize and forthcoming from the University of Akron Press. Marshall (far left), a Southeastern alumnus and writer-in-residence, is the critically acclaimed author of Walking Through Shadows, Right As Rain, and Hot Fudge Sundae Blues, and recipient of the MLA Fiction of the Year Award.

The Music of Twohawks
Stephen Twohawks Reed, director and founder of the Native American Flute Circle of Louisiana, is a Native American Flute recording artist whose music has been captured on the CDs Sends A Voice and Changes. A resident of Walker, his music has been described as “contemporary traditional.” Says Twohawks, “The Native American flute is different than any other instrument in that it is actually a way of life. Being a flute player is to walk a different path.” Come experience Twohawks’ haunting, spiritual musical journey.
