What is Fanfare?
According to Webster's Dictionary "Fanfare" is "a flourish of trumpets, a showy
outward display.
At Southeastern Louisiana University, we say it is a year's worth of culture and entertainment in
just one captivating month.
Fanfare happens every October
at Southeastern, traditionally swinging into action with a flourish of trumpets -- the
trumpets as a cool jazz band playing for picnickers in a
picturesque downtown park.
The horns herald a special season of
entertainment, a year's worth of culture
and fun marching quick-step across four dazzling weeks.
Southeastern and the College of Arts
and Sciences designed Fanfare as a salute to the arts that enrich our souls, thrill our
hearts and challenge our minds.
Through Fanfare's astonishing array of events you sense extraordinary drama, hear delightful
sounds, consider thought-provoking ideas and observe beautiful images.
In a panoply
of charm and wonder for all ages, performers and performances parade across Fanfare's stages
with academia's pomp and wit, Broadway's shine and glitter, and Carnival's merriment and
show.
