Her Flock
University of Georgia digital art professor Martijn van Vagtendonk’s installation Her Flock is a mechanical marvel of birds in locomotion. The artist explains: “Birds made of paper and steel wire sit quietly, each on a pedestal. As a viewer approaches, the flock flaps their wings for take off and move upwards, where they remain in flight until the viewer retreats.” The remarkable artwork creates the sensation of walking into an open field and surprising birds into flight.
