Community Center (300 N. 5th St.) houses quilts, dolls, demonstrations, art, and a Merchants’ Mall where Rachel Clark will present a fashion show of her work. Afternoon fun includes a “Kids Corner” near “Old Hardhide” the alligator’s cage in the heart of town and, as always, antique shops and eateries will be well worth the visit.

Sweet Home Folklife Days
Under the theme “Our Music Goes On,” the annual celebration of Kentwood’s African American community includes hands on demonstrations of story telling, home remedies, hair styling, childhood games and music, buggy rides along a scenic nature trail and a traditional baptism at the “baptizing hole” -- Cool’s Creek. Traditional African American foods will be offered for sale and children can “meet and greet” a parade of heroes.
