Public invited to North Shore Gubernatorial Forum Sept. 10

MODERATOR, PANELISTS SELECTED FOR NORTH SHORE GUBERNATORIAL FORUM
A St. Tammany architect, New Orleans area journalist, Washington Parish attorney, higher education specialist and Southeastern graduate student will serve as the moderator and panelists for the 2003 North Shore Gubernatorial Forum scheduled Sept. 10 at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Designed to focus on economic development, transportation and infrastructure issues associated with the north shore, the public forum is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. in Southeastern’s University Center, 700 West University Avenue.
Moderating the forum will be Sam Fauntleroy of the Covington architectural firm Fauntleroy and Latham. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce and a board member since 2000, Fauntleroy has been a member of numerous civic organizations, governmental boards and commissions.
Panelists include Errol Laborde, editor-in-chief of MC Media, which includes New Orleans Magazine and Louisiana Life, and the producer and panelist for the public affairs program “Informed Sources” on  WYES-TV in New Orleans; Franklinton general practice attorney Richard Watts, a former president of the Washington Parish Bar Association; Kim Hunter Reed, deputy commissioner for public affairs for the Louisiana Board of Regents; and Jennifer Lombardo, a Southeastern organizational communication graduate student and announcer for the campus radio station KSLU.
The forum is being hosted by the chambers of commerce of the north shore; the governments of Tangipahoa, St. Tammany and Washington parishes; and Southeastern.
Forum chairman T. Jay Seale III of Hammond said a white paper outlining issues pertinent to the region is being prepared by Southeastern’s College of Business and Technology and will be provided as background to major candidates invited to participate in the forum.
He said the forum is intended to showcase the candidates’ views on economic development while reinforcing the north shore partnership of Southeastern, the three parish governments and the three largest chambers. “Nowhere else in the state have these forces come together in this way,” Seale added. “The candidate who becomes governor will have witnessed the strength of that partnership firsthand.”
