CONCERT HIGHLIGHTS MUSIC: THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE
      HAMMOND -- A special concert at Southeastern Louisiana University on November 20 will illustrate the adage that “music is the universal language.”
      In honor of the university’s celebration of International Education Week, the Department of Music and Dramatic arts has arranged a program that showcases the talents of the department’s ever-growing contingent of international students.
      “Music: The Universal Language,” scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Pottle Music Building Auditorium, will also have a touch of holiday flare, said Southeastern voice professor Joy Ratliff, who is organizing the concert.
      The concert will open with the fourth movement of a quintet by Carl Maria von Weber performed by Alexandre Negruta of Kishiniev, Moldova, clarinet, and four students from Romania –  Serban Petrescu and Emanuela Lacraru, violin; Simina Renea, viola, and Ioana Velicu, cello.
      The Romanian musicians will also perform “Concerto Grosso in G minor, Op 6, No. 8" – the “Christmas Concerto” – by Arcangelo Corelli. The holiday theme will continue with Bach’s Christmas oratorio, "Grosser Herr und starker König,." sung by baritone James Flick, a graduate student from Kent, Conn., with pianist Raisa Voldman, one of the department’s staff accompanists.           & nbsp;
