SOUTHEASTERN TO DEDICATE PRESIDENTIAL PLAZA NOV. 15
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University will dedicate its new “Presidential Plaza” at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 15.
The new walkway is lined with bronze busts of Southeastern’s 13 presidents and paved with bricks naming former Alumni Association and Student Government Association presidents. It is located in the “quad” framed by D Vickers Hall, Fayard Hall, Sims Memorial Library and the War Memorial Student Union.
Four former presidents  -- Clea Parker (1968-1980), J. Larry Crain (1980-1986), G. Warren Smith (1986-1995) and Sally Clausen (1995-2001) -- will join President Randy Moffett and approximately 40 past leaders of the Alumni Association and SGA at the ceremony. Four deceased presidents – Linus A. Sims (1925-33), Y.L. Fontenot (1933-37), and Luther Dyson (1953-67), and acting president J.B. Wooley (1967-68) – will be represented by family members.
The SGA and alumni honorees will be the guests of the Alumni Association at their tailgating festivities on Galloway Drive prior to the dedication, which will be followed by the 4 p.m. Southeastern vs. Prairie View A&M football game in Strawberry Stadium.
The ceremony will feature a welcome by Vice President for Student Affairs Brad O’Hara, remembrances by Professor Emeritus of History C. Howard Nichols, ribbon-cuttings by SGA President Ashley McKee  and Alumni Association President Dennis James, and unveiling of the busts by President Moffett. A reception will follow in Fayard Hall.
