SOUTHEASTERN’S BIDNER NAMED TO MUSIC EDUCATION HALL OF FAME
      HAMMOND -- Sara Bidner, an associate professor of education and member of the Southeastern Louisiana University faculty for 28 years, has been named to the Hall of Fame of the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA). 
      Bidner joined the Southeastern faculty in 1976 as a music teacher at the Southeastern Laboratory School and professor in the education department -- now the Department of Teaching and Learning -- where her teaching specialty is music education. 
      A graduate of the University of Illinois, Bidner earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in music education at Louisiana State University. Before coming to Louisiana, she was a vocal music teacher in the public schools of Leslie and Grand Ledge, Mich.
     Bidner has served as a member of the LMEA board of directors as state chair of the Society for Music Teacher Education and chair of the collegiate and elementary divisions. She also has served LMEA’s national organization, MENC: the National Organization for Music Education, as Southern Division representative to the executive committee and currently is national chair of the Society for Music Education.
      Bidner has made numerous presentations to professional organizations and public school systems. She has had articles and columns published in “The Journal of Music Teacher Education” and the “The Louisiana Musician.”
      Bidner has been active in the music ministry of the United Methodist Church and has been a member of the Baton Rouge Symphony Chorus.
