LAHPERD HONORS PROFESSORS -- Southeastern Louisiana University Kinesiology and Health Studies faculty members Ralph Wood, left, and Linda Synovitz have been honored by the Louisiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (LAHPERD). Synovitz received the Outstanding University Health Educator of the Year award while Wood received the Taylor Dodson Young Professional Award at LAHPERD’s annual convention.
SOUTHEASTERN KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH STUDIES FACULTY HONORED

      HAMMOND -- Two professors in Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies have been honored by the Louisiana  Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (LAHPERD).
      Linda Synovitz, associate professor of health education, received the Outstanding University Health Educator of the Year award and Ralph Wood, assistant professor of kinesiology and health studies, was presented the Taylor Dodson Young Professional Award at LAHPERD’s annual convention, held in Baton Rouge, November 13-14.  
      Synovitz’s honor award was based on achievements such as her record of scholarly presentations; research and peer review publications; and her service to professional organizations such as LAHPERD, the American Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the American School Health Association. Also cited were her efforts in developing the university’s new major in Health Education and Promotion and the Louisiana State Health Content Standards; and her leadership activities on the department, college and university levels.  
      Wood was recognized for his excellence in teaching, scholarly presentations, research and peer review publications, leadership role in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies and community service.
