STATE SENATE EDUCATION PANEL TO MEET AT SLU
     HAMMOND -- The Louisiana Senate Committee on Education's statewide tour "Look,
Listen, and Learn" will hold a public hearing at Southeastern Louisiana University Oct. 22.
     The committee's purpose is to:
     -- improve Louisiana's educational system,
     -- create opportunities for legislators to observe innovative instructional strategies,
     -- provide public forums for educators, parents, administrators, civic leaders to voice their
concerns about the state's educational system; and
     -- encourage an exchange of information among legislators, educators and other
interested citizens.
     Committee members include state senators Tom Greene, Mike Branch, Foster Campbell,
Tommy Casanova, Wilson Fields and Phil Short.
     The public hearing is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the SLU Cate Teacher Education
Center's Kiva on General Pershing Ave.
