SLEEPWALKER NOCTURNE - Alison Maraman of Zachary stars in Southeastern Louisiana University's "Sleepwalker Nocturne" October 30 at the Columbia Theatre. The Danceworks production, choreographed by Southeastern dance students and inspired by a story written by Southeastern English faculty member Alan Marsh, will begin at 7:30 p.m. SLU DANCEWORKS PRESENTS “SLEEPWALKER NOCTURNE” HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Danceworks will contribute an original work, “Sleepwalker Nocturne,” to Fanfare, the university’s annual celebration of the arts. The performance, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., October 30, at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts, was inspired by a story written by Southeastern English faculty member Alan Marsh. According to the author, the piece is written specifically for the Halloween season. Director and Southeastern dance professor Martie Fellom says “Sleepwalker Nocturne” is the story of one young woman’s “journey through the waking and dreaming realms, through life and death, and her attempts to hold on to love no matter the obstacles.” Starring in “Sleepwalker Nocturne” is Alison Maraman of Zachary as “Giselle,” a woman haunted by the need to search and tormented because she does not know what she is searching for. Also contributing their artistic talents are Peter Simon of Baton Rouge as “Andre,” Giselle’s husband, who faces obstacles larger than life, and James M. Porche of Hammond as the mysterious stranger. “Sleepwalker Nocturne” is choreographed by Jessica Lee of Kentwood, Tracy Nobles of Hammond and Ashley Roberts of Slidell. Supporting cast are Jill Barrere of Slidell; Lisa Belanger of Houma; Heather Breland of Abita Springs; Michele Cudd, Lauren Fairbanks, Crystal N. Pichon, and Dennis H. Swain of Hammond; Dustin Diaz, Dianna Figueroa, Bryan Hock and Ben Norman of Covington. “Sleepwalker Nocturne” also features Elizabeth Hughes of Kentwood; Kristin Brooke Johnson of Oakdale; Melissa LaBauve of Baton Rouge; Dave Prejeant of Mandeville; Micah Richerand of Folsom; Stacie Sabathe of Chalmette; Daniel Thomas of Ponchatoula; and Senad Zlatar of Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina. Technical crew includes Charis Carey of Vacherie and Leslie Comeaux of Violet. Lighting design is by Pete Pfeil, Columbia Theatre associate director for operations and production, while Nobles and Lee are also serving as stage managers. Tickets for “Sleepwalker Nocturne” are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, Southeastern faculty, staff and alumni and non-Southeastern students. Admission is free for Southeastern students, with their university I.D.
