STUDENT DEATH UNDER INVESTIGATION
     HAMMOND -- A Southeastern Louisiana University student was found dead this
morning adjacent to university property on North Oak Street. Police are investigating the cause
of
death.
      I was shocked to learn of the death of one of our own. My sympathy goes out to the
family of this young man, and we offer our assistance to the family and friends of this student, 
Southeastern President Sally Clausen said.
     The body of a 21-year-old male was found across the street from the university by another
student at approximately 3 a.m.  Hammond police and University Police were immediately
notified along with Southeastern s administration.
     The identity of the student will be released by law enforcement pending notification of
the next of kin.
     According to Hammond police, a full investigation is underway.
