SOUTHEASTERN HOSTS BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY WEEK
HAMMOND – More than 85 guest
speakers will share their real-world experiences with Southeastern Louisiana
University students during the university’s annual Business and Technology
Week October 13-17.
Sponsored by the College of Business
and Technology, this year’s Business and Technology Week is being held
in conjunction with the university’s homecoming activities, which culminate
on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The speakers include representatives
of a wide variety of fields in business, industry and government, including
corporate presidents, chief financial officers, governmental agency administrators,
engineers, project managers, and certified public accountants. Among those
scheduled to speak are former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer, now president
of the Business Bank; IBM Vice President Albert Kuhn, a Southeastern alumnus;
James Maurin, chairman and chief executive officer of Stirling Properties;
Lawrence “Larry” Collins, director of the international division of the
Louisiana Department of Economic Development; Hammond Mayor Mayson Foster;
and Roland Toups, chairman and chief executive officer of Turner Industries.
“This event gives our students
and faculty a chance to hear from leaders in business, industry and government
and gain an appreciation for real-life experiences that aren’t necessarily
covered in text books and lectures,” said Michael C. Budden, dean of the
College of Business and Technology. “Our students appreciate this valuable
opportunity to meet and interact with leaders in our community.”
