SOUTHEASTERN'S CAREER 2000 SET FOR SEPT. 26
     HAMMOND   Southeastern Louisiana University will host its annual Career 2000
employment festival Tuesday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the University Center. 
Southeastern students and alumni are invited to attend and are encouraged to dress professionally
and have several resumes on hand.
     To help students and alumni prepare for the event, SLU Career Development Services
will host a resume workshop Thursday, Sept. 21 and Friday, Sept. 22 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
in the Career Development Services Conference Room.  A professional etiquette seminar is
also being held Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Union Theatre, with
a reception immediately following.  The seminar is co-sponsored by Gamma Beta Phi and topics
will include professional attire, conversation and interview preparation.
     Over 80 companies have signed up for the festival, 100 are expected.  Some participating

     Representatives of state agencies will also participate, including the City of Baton
Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge; Department of Social Services   Office of Family Support;
Kenner Police Department; Department of Civil Services; Department of Environmental Quality;
Department of Labor; Department of Public Safety and Corrections/Probation and Parole; LA
Legislative Auditor; and the New Orleans Police Department.
     From the federal government, participating agencies include the Internal Revenue Service
  Criminal Investigation Division; Naval Financial Management Career Center; Navy; Social
Security Administration; Army; Border Patrol; Customs Service; Department of
Agriculture/OCFO/National Finance Center; Department of Veteran's Affairs; Marine Corps;
and Department of the State. 
     The Southeastern Police Department and the Graduate School Program for the College of
Nursing and Health Studies will also be on hand.
