SOUTHEASTERN CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS SET FOR MARCH 20
HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana
University cheerleading tryouts are set for March 20, announced Southeastern
head coach Lorry Perry.
Prior to the tryouts, prospective
team members must attend three days of clinics, scheduled from 6-8 p.m.,
March 16-18 in the Billups Room, located on the south end of the west side
of Strawberry Stadium. Those trying out must attend all three clinics,
with no exceptions allowed.
At the clinics, prospective cheerleaders
will be taught a cheer, chant, and the Southeastern Fight Song. They will
be judged on crowd appeal, spirit, personality, motions, sharpness, execution
and overall appearance. Required stunts include a toss to hands extension,
any toss stunt and one optional stunt. Stunts will be judged on difficulty,
execution and dismount. The ability to perform a standing back handspring
is also required. Prospective cheerleaders will be scored on their performance
on a 100-point scale.
Prospective cheerleader must
be enrolled or plan to be enrolled as a full-time student and maintain
a 2.0 grade point average. Twelve half-tuition scholarships are available.
