SLU’S CHEFS EVENING 2003, “A DINNER PARTY YOU DON’T WANT TO
MISS!”
HAMMOND – Tickets are now on
sale for Chefs Evening, Southeastern Louisiana University’s annual food
festival and fundraiser.
The gala event, sponsored by
the Southeastern Development Foundation, is celebrating its 18th consecutive
year on Sunday, March 30, from 5:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. at Southeastern’s
University Center.
With this year’s theme, “King
of the Forest,” patrons can expect a “forest” of culinary delights as they
sample items from the area’s best restaurants, bakeries, caterers, and
wineries, said Foundation Annual Fund Coordinator Sarah Schillage, who
is organizing the event.
“Chefs Evening is always a dinner
party you don’t want to miss,” Schillage said.
Schillage said Chefs Evening
2003, which includes participants from Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and the
north shore, will also feature silent and live auctions to benefit Southeastern
athletics.
Tickets for Chefs Evening, which
supports Southeastern academic programs, are $40. Patrons can also choose
from a variety of ticket packages which can include the popular Patron
Party, a gathering hosted this year at the Hammond home of Steve and Tiny
Leon. Refreshments for the social, which is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. on
Sunday, April 6, will be provided by Murphy’s Seafood.
A new addition to this year’s
event is the champagne toast at the Southeastern “President’s Residence,”
the home of President Randy Moffett, prior to Chefs Evening. Moffett
will give a “thank you” toast to Chefs Evening patrons, said Schillage.
