SOUTHEASTERN TO HOST COASTAL FOREST HEALTH MEETING
HAMMOND -- Southeastern
Louisiana University will be the host site for a state public meeting on
coastal forest health, use and policy Tuesday, July 12, at the University
Center on West University Avenue.
Sponsored by the Governor’s Office
of Coastal Activities, the meeting is open to the public and will be held
at 7 p.m. in Room 133 of the of the center.
The meeting is one of four public
meetings scheduled throughout south Louisiana. The meetings are intended
to brief the public on the results of a scientific study that was done
for the Governor’s Office regarding coastal forests and to solicit comments
from people throughout the region about the protection and use of coastal
wetland forests.
The scientific study is the work
of the Governor’s Coastal Wetland Forest Conservation and Use Science Working
Group. Results of the study are available at www.coastalforestswg.lsu.edu.
Other meetings are scheduled on
July 13 in Lake Charles, July19 in Butte La Rose, and July 20 in Thibodaux.
