News release Public Information Office  SLU 10880   Hammond, LA 70402   phone: 985-549-2341   fax: 985-549-2061 publicinfo@selu.edu Spring 2004 news releases Public Information home News archive Contact: Christina Chapple Date: 10/12/04   NEW COLLEGE ENTERTAINMENT SHOW AIRS ON THE SOUTHEASTERN CHANNEL      HAMMOND – “College Night,” a new entertainment show for university students, will air Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights on the Southeastern Channel, Southeastern Louisiana University’s educational access channel on Charter Cable Channel 18.      The 30-minute program is produced by the Southeastern Channel in conjunction with Southeastern students in the Department of Communication. It will air at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Friday nights and 10:30 p.m. Saturdays.      “College Night,” hosted by Southeastern student veejays and reporters, features a variety of music for the college audience, including music videos, a billboard countdown, and interviews with top artists from the north shore region.        Headlining the first episode is an interview with the nationally-known group from Baton Rouge, “Better Than Ezra,” shot prior to the group’s September performance at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts.      The show also features previews of upcoming films, student reactions to current movies, a corner for student movie critics, and a spotlight on student-produced films at Southeastern.       Communication majors Randi Rousseau of Ponchatoula and Choni Francis of Houston, Texas, are co-hosts of the first episode, while Krystal Bouthe of Meraux and Natalie Crump of Baton Rouge are reporters. Southeastern Channel staff member Paul Catalanotto produced, directed and edited the program.       “'College Night’ offers a brand of entertainment that will appeal to the college crowd and other younger viewers in our audience,” said Rick Settoon, general manager of the Southeastern Channel.  “We’ve already seen that students really enjoy working on the project as well as viewing it.  So we know it’s also providing good training for our Southeastern television students.”
