News release Public Information Office   SLU 10880   Hammond, LA 70402   phone: 985-549-2341   fax: 985-549-2061 publicinfo@selu.edu     www.selu.edu/news Contact: Angey Saucier Date: 1/10/03   SLU TANGI ALUMNI HOSTS “DAY AT THE RACES”       HAMMOND -- The Tangi Chapter of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association will host “A Day at the Races” at the New Orleans Fairgrounds Sunday, February 9.       The get-together is scheduled for noon-5 p.m, a chartered bus will depart the Alumni Center at 10:30 a.m. and return at 6 p.m. Once at the fairgrounds, attendees will meet at the clubhouse entrance where they will enjoy a choice of two plate lunches, along with a house salad, dessert, iced tea and coffee. On the menu are corned beef and cabbage, a Fair Grounds favorite served with boiled potatoes; and the Exacta, a tasting of seafood casserole, served in ramekin, and a grilled chicken breast with sauce beurre blanc, served with rice pilaf, vegetable and house salad.       “We encourage alumni from throughout the region to join the Tangi Chapter for a great day of fun and excitement watching the races and enjoying delicious Southern cuisine,” said  Alumni Association Assistant Director Tom Dawsey.       Cost for the event is $20.00, $25.00 for those choosing the charter bus transportation from Hammond, and includes club admission and lunch.
