SOUTHEASTERN ASSUMES OWNERSHIP OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SITE –  Gerald “Chip” Songy (front row, left), executive vice president of Stirling Properties signs documents transferring ownership of the former Zapata-Haynie Building in Hammond to Southeastern Louisiana University which the university will use as the site of its new regional economic development center. Songy is also a part owner of the building. Observing are (front row) Southeastern President Randy Moffett and Robert Maurin, a part owner of the building; and (back row, from left) Beezie Landry, commercial realtor with Stirling Properties, Stephen Smith, Southeastern vice president for administration and finance, and William Joubert, Southeastern director of economic and business development. The building, which will house Southeastern’s Small Business Development Center as well as a number of regional economic development agencies, is expected to open formally this spring.
