SOUTHEASTERN OFFERS FREE EMPLOYEE TRAINING
HAMMOND Interested in free training for your employees? From 9 a.m. to noon
Wednesday, October 25, Southeastern Louisiana University will host a Business and Employer
Forum in Room 133 of the University Center. The forum will offer access to training in
customer service, computers, industrial technology, medical topics and more.
William McCaleb of Metro Vision will explain the details of and the qualifications for
the incumbent worker training program administered through the Louisiana Department of
Labor. In order to qualify for this free employee training program, an employer must have
operated in Louisiana for at least three years and have contributed to the unemployment trust
fund for that same period. The employer must also have at least 15 employees to be trained in
order to enter into a contract with a training provider.
Veda Abene of the Division of Continuing Education and Special Activities will discuss
what Southeastern can offer companies, including those not eligible for incumbent worker
training funds. Southeastern training services can customize training needs on an individual
basis.
Also in attendance will be Rene Puissegur, new director of the Southeastern Small
Business Development Center, and Sandra Lombana of the Tangipahoa Economic Development

Foundation. Lombana will discuss topics such as tax credits and financial assistance.
