SUMMERS NAMED MULTI-CULTURAL
DIRECTOR
HAMMOND -- Eric Summers
has been named director of Multi-Cultural and International Affairs at
Southeastern Louisiana University.
As interim director for the past year, Summers
has pioneered the implementation of host programs for international students,
was instrumental in creating the Student Programming and Resource Committee
(SPARC), and helped charter the first African American Alumni Chapter at
Southeastern last spring.
Summers began his career at Southeastern in
January 2000 as a residential life coordinator, where he co-founded the
Residential Learning Center for first year students, taught the first freshmen
seminar class offered in residence halls, and won a conference scholarship
to the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO) conference.
Summers earned his bachelor's degree in psychology
from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master's degree in
education in higher education administration from the University of Mississippi.
While at Ole Miss, he worked in Orientation, Multicultural Affairs, where
he coordinated a mentor program for freshmen. |
