SOUTHEASTERN FE-LIONS ANNOUNCE SCHEDULE, RECRUIT MEMBERS
HAMMOND – The FE-Lions,
the popular social organization for female fans of Southeastern Louisiana
University athletics, has announced its 2005-06 schedule and is recruiting
new members.
The organization has grown
in two years to more than 200 members, said President Veda Abene. The FE-Lions
host luncheons on Thursdays in conjunction with Lions football games and
sponsor other functions such as the annual “Champagne Bingo” athletic fund
raiser.
Annual dues are $10, and
luncheon tickets are $13 until August 15 and $15 after that date.
“Our programs promise to
be more fun than ever, with great speakers, lively commentary, delicious
food, and spirited chatter amongst our members,” said Abene. “You won’t
want to miss a single event — and you surely won’t want to miss an opportunity
to get your tickets for Champagne Bingo. So mark your calendars and get
ready to show your FE-Lion spirit! Like the song says, ‘Let’s get
it started…’”
The schedule includes FE-Lions
luncheons, which will be held this year at Tope La Catering, 113 East Thomas
St., on September 1 and 8, October 6 and 20, November 10, and December
1. The FE-Lions also will participate in the August 19 Southeastern pep
rally during Hammond’s Hot August Nights, 5-8 p.m. in downtown Hammond.
Special events include
a cocktail social on September 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the Alumni Center to
gear up for the October 1 Southeastern-Tulane University football game
in New Orleans’ Tad Gormley Stadium, and Champagne Bingo on January 28
at Southeastern’s Twelve Oaks.
