FE-LIONS KICK OFF LION FOOTBALL FESTIVITIES WITH SEPT. 1 COCKTAIL
PARTY
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana
University FE-Lions, a group of "F(emale) E(nthusiasts)" who serve as boosters
for the Southeastern Lions football team, will kick off their fall 2004
festivities on Sept. 1 with a cocktail party at the Alumni Center, 500
West University Avenue.
New members are welcome to join in
the event, which the FE-Lions will host from 5-7 p.m., said FE-Lions president
Veda Abene.
Tickets for the cocktail kickoff are
$12. Abene said the event will feature remarks by President Randy Moffett
and Director of Athletics Frank Pergolizzi, an update on the Spirit of
the Southland marching band by Director Trent Davis, and appearances by
the Southeastern cheerleaders, Lionettes and Roomie, Southeastern’s lion
mascot.
New members will have the opportunity
to join the organization and receive information about dues and upcoming
FE-Lions activities, Abene said.
Members can also keep up-to-date on
FE-Lions activities through the organization’s Web site, www.selu.edu/orgs/felions.
The FE-Lions debuted last year as a fun and
spirit-oriented social organization. In addition to luncheons on Thursdays
before each home football game, members also stage a popular post-season
“Champagne Bingo” fundraiser.
Abene said luncheons will be held this year
at Topé La Catering on Thomas St. in downtown Hammond. Luncheon
dates are Sept. 23 and 30; Oct. 7, 14 and 28, and Nov. 11.
“Come join our squad and get excited for the
2004 football season!” Abene said.
