WORKS THAT “ILLUMINATE” – Two young dancers from Hammond, from
left, Maggie Rownd and Hayley Kropog, will perform “To Soar,” one of three
dances and four films that make up “Lightning Bolt – Works That Illuminate,”
a program presented by Southeastern Louisiana University’s danceworks and
its director, Martie Fellom. The free 60-minute program, scheduled for
7:30 p.m., Oct. 1, at Southeastern’s Columbia Theatre for the Performing
Arts in downtown Hammond, is part of Southeastern’s annual Fanfare celebration
of the arts.

COLLABORATION OF ARTISTS – Southeastern Louisiana University’s
Clark Hall Gallery will showcase drawings and prints by renowned artists
Mark Pearlman and Kurt Kemp during Fanfare, the university’s annual festival
of the arts, humanities and sciences. The exhibit, which includes
the work shown above by Pearlman, will be on display through the end of
October and opens with a reception from 5-7 p.m. on October 2.

BRILLIANT QUINTET – The Prairie Winds have been called North
America’s finest wind quintet. The ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m.,
Oct. 2, at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Art’s Conference
Center in downtown Hammond. Tickets are available at the theater box office,
220 E. Thomas, 985-543-4371. A free “informance” is scheduled for 2 p.m.,
Oct. 2, in Pottle Music Building Auditorium on campus.

RELUCTANT AMERICANS – As a special “Fanfare Eve” event, the
Southeastern Louisiana University Center for Southeast Louisiana Studies
will premier its film, “"Reluctant Americans: The West Florida Revolt and
the Louisiana Purchase," at 7 p.m., Sept. 25, at the Columbia Theatre for
the Performing Arts. The free event begins with a brief lecture by center
Director Samuel Hyde Jr., and will be followed by a gala reception.
