AN EVENING WITH RICK BRAGG – Pulitzer Prize-winning author and
journalist Rick Bragg, who has been chosen to write the authorized biography
of Jessica Lynch, the American soldier captured and rescued in Iraq, will
be the guest of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Fanfare at 7:30 p.m.,
Oct. 8, at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts.

40 YEARS AFTER THE ASSASSINATION – Southeastern Louisiana University
history professor and dean Michael Kurtz, a recognized scholar on the assassination
of President John F. Kennedy, will examine the traumatic historical event
in a special lecture at 1 p.m., Oct. 8 in the Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
The free lecture is part of Fanfare’s “Then and Now” series, sponsored
by the Department of History and Political Science.

HIGH-STEPPING DANCERS – Common Ground will bring the precision,
artistry and energy of Celtic dance to Southeastern Louisiana University’s
Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 6, as part
of the university’s annual Fanfare arts festival.

EARP AS EARP – Wyatt Earp, a descendant of the legend of the
American frontier, will present a one man show at Southeastern Louisiana
University’s Vonnie Borden Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 9. The performance
is part of the second week of Fanfare, Southeastern’s annual October festival
of the arts, humanities and sciences.

LONELY FROG – The Missoula Theatre Company will return to Southeastern
Louisiana University’s Fanfare arts festival with “The Frog Prince” at
2 p.m., Oct. 11 at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts. Auditions
for 50-60 local children to star in the production are scheduled for 4
p.m., Oct. 6 at the Southeastern Lab School gym. |
