ORIENTATION FOR PROSPECTIVE FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE PARENTS
HAMMOND -- On Tuesday, November 21 from 3:30 to 5 p.m., the Louisiana Office of
Community Services will present an orientation for prospective foster and adoptive parents in the
Tangipahoa area at Southeastern Louisiana University's Alumni Center on University Avenue.
According to Lisa Kaichen of OCS, there are over 6,000 children in foster care in
Louisiana and over 800 are legally free for adoption. Foster parents are urgently needed for care
of these children, ranging in age from infant to teenager. Many are in need of protection due to
abuse or neglect. Interested persons between the ages of 21 and 65, married or single, are invited
to attend the orientation to learn how fostering a child for a few days to a few years can help
improve a child's life. Adoptive parents are needed as well.
For further information, please call 504-893-6363.
