Public invited to North Shore Gubernatorial Forum Sept. 10

NORTH SHORE CHAMBERS, PARISH GOVERNMENTS, SOUTHEASTERN UNITE TO SPONSOR GUBERNATORIAL FORUM
Southeastern Louisiana University and north shore chambers of commerce and
parish governments have invited gubernatorial candidates to speak out on their plans for the growing north
shore region in a special forum scheduled for September 10.
Candidates will be asked to outline their platforms on economic development, transportation and
infrastructure for the north shore region, said Hammond attorney T. Jay Seale III, chair of  the forum
 steering committee.
Scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Southeastern University Center, the forum is sponsored by the Greater
Slidell Area, Hammond, and St. Tammany West Chambers of Commerce; the parish governments of
Tangipahoa, St. Tammany and Washington parishes, and Southeastern.
“We also want to educate the candidates on the north shore’s needs, our particular strengths, and our
 growing unity,” Seale said.
"We want the next governor to specifically address the north shore's concerns," said Sam Fauntleroy,
chairman of the board of the St. Tammany West Chamber and a forum steering committee member.
Seale said letters have been sent to candidates, inviting them to participate in the forum. He said three
candidates, Kathleen Blanco, Hunt Downer, and Dan Kyle, have already agreed to participate.
The forum will be televised live by the Southeastern Channel, Southeastern's educational access
channel, and will be sent via Charter Communication to stations in St. Tammany and Washington parishes.
It will also be broadcast live on Southeastern's public radio station, KSLU 90.9 FM, and other area radio
 stations.
