Homecoming 2005 recipe contest winnerWINNING RECIPE – Kathy Sullivan of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Office of Admissions created the winning recipe in the Southeastern Homecoming “Chips, Dips and All That Jazz” faculty and staff recipe contest with her “Kathy’s Kickoff Cake.” She was represented at the contest judging by Director of Admissions Richard Beaugh, center. Contest judges were Joe Wong of Trey Yuen restaurant, left, and Martin Balisteri of Aramark.

Phi Kappa Phi 2005 Quiz Bowl winnersSTUDENTS TOP FACULTY IN QUIZ BOWL – Team Biohazard, four members of the Southeastern Louisiana University Biology Graduate Students Organization, made history on Nov. 9 when they became the first student team to win the Phi Kappa Phi Homecoming Quiz Bowl championship. The championship matches up the winners of the student and faculty quiz bowl divisions. Being congratulated by, far right, Phi Kappa Phi President Donnie Booth, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences; and Secretary Joan Faust, assistant Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, are, from left, Roxanne Rudowicz, Christopher Harris, Jack Siegrist, and Ian MacKinnon. 


SOUTHEASTERN ANNOUNCES HOMECOMING CONTEST WINNERS
       HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University has announced the winners of its Homecoming 2005 contests, held to boost the spirit and participation during Homecoming Week, Nov. 7-12. 
       “Congratulations to everyone who participated,” said Alumni Association Director Kathy Pittman. “You’re all winners!”
       Faculty, staff, students, downtown businesses and area school children all participated in a variety of contests challenging them to use their creative skills in decorating doors, designing miniature floats on shoe boxes or concocting a tasty tailgating recipe. 
       Members of the Southeastern community also put their brain power to work in the annual Phi Kappa Phi Homecoming Quiz Bowl which, for the first time in its four-year history, saw a student team best a faculty team in the championship match.
       Here are the Homecoming contest results:
       Phi Kappa Phi Homecoming Quiz Bowl
Overall winner -- Biology Graduate Student Organization's "Team Biohazard" (Jack Siegrist, Roxanne Rudowicz, Ian MacKinnon and Christopher Harris). 
Faculty division -- Sims Memorial Library's "Dewey Decimators" (Laverne Simoneaux, Lori Smith, Kevin Cutrer and Eric Johnson), first place; "A Little Offacenter" of the Center for Faculty Excellence and CAP Center (Dorothy Burton, Dane Bounds, Harland Struble, Debbie Longman), second place.
Student division -- "Sigmatizers" of Sigma Tau Delta, English student honor society, (Marie Ostinato, Dawn Humble, George Menhal, and Lauren Carson), second place.
       The “Chips, Dips and All That Jazz” recipe contest -- Kathy Sullivan (Office of Admissions), "Kathy's Kickoff Cake," first place; Office of Leadership Development/Student Activities, "Roomie's Disco Delights," second place; Veda Abene (Continuing Education) and Mary Lou Coats (Southeastern Development Foundation), "Roomie's Boogie Bowl,” third place. Joe Wong of Trey Yuen restaurant and Martin Balisteri of Aramark, Southeastern’s food services provider, judged the contest.

Displays: Campus Activities Board, first place; Alpha Omicron Pi and Kappa Alpha,  second place; Gamma Beta Phi, third place
