SOUTHEASTERN 2003 HOMECOMING COURT – Seven Southeastern Louisiana University students have been chosen as members of the 2003 Homecoming court and will reign over Homecoming festivities, October 13-18. SLU ANNOUNCES 2003 HOMECOMING COURT AND BEAU COURT
      HAMMOND -- Fourteen Southeastern Louisiana University students have been chosen as members of the 2003 Homecoming queen and beau courts. The seven women and seven men will reign over Homecoming festivities, October 13-18.
      Chosen as members of the queen’s court were seniors Crystal Canepa, Meraux; Bobbi Lyn Corkern, Walker; Jovanda Hall, New Orleans; Whitney Magee, Franklinton; and Jessy Shaw, Slidell; junior Selena Landry, Covington; and sophomore Lauren Faraone, Metairie.
      Members of the beau court are seniors Willie Lewis, Bogalusa, and Brett Monteleone, Albany; juniors Bryan E. Bradshaw, Marrero, and Brandon C. Parker, New Orleans; sophomore Arden Ballard, Harahan; and freshmen Chad Grabert, Kenner, and Dontá Mills, Baton Rouge.
      The 2003 Homecoming queen and beau, the top junior or senior vote-getters in the recent online campus election, will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming football game when the Lions take on Webber International at 4 p.m., Saturday, October 18, in Strawberry Stadium.
      The court will also participate in Homecoming festivities such as the Alumni Awards Evening, bonfire, pep rally and Student Government Association Homecoming street dance on the eve of Homecoming, October 17, and will ride in the 1:30 p.m. parade through downtown Hammond on Homecoming Day.
      Canepa, the daughter of Tyra and Chris Canepa, is a general business major and is sweetheart of the Senior Class. She has been a member of the Lionettes, Southeastern’s award-winning dance team, for four years, and has served as captain for two of those years. She also is a Dean’s List student.
      Corkern, sweetheart of the Ladies of the Green and Gold, is seeking a double major in General Business and Human Resource Management. The daughter of Cindy and Greg Corkern, she is a member of the Southeastern track and field team and was the first woman pole vaulter in university history. She also is a member of the Southeastern Athletic Advisory Council and “Track Phi Track,” a new fund-raising organization of Southeastern’s track and field program.
      Hall is majoring in kinesiology with an emphasis in ports management. She is sweetheart of Zeta Phi Beta sorority and also serves as the Greek organization’s vice president. The daughter of Shanna and Eric Hall, she is president of the Pan-Hellenic Council. She is a member of and has served as the first president of the Ladies of the Green and Gold. A former member of the Southeastern track team, she is now equipment manager for the Southeastern football team.
      Magee, a mass communication major, is sweetheart of Phi Mu sorority, for which she also serves as membership chair. The daughter of Hallene and Randy Magee, she is a Dean’s List student and Green “S” recipient. She is a reporter for the Southeastern Channel, and is a member of Gamma Beta Phi, Lambda Pi Eta, and Channel Space, a campus organization for students interested in television careers. 
      Shaw, a kinesiology major with an emphasis in exercise science, is the daughter of Vilma and Bruce Shaw. She is sweetheart of the Lionettes and has been a member of the dance team for two years. She also is a member of Danceworks and the Emerald Girls, and is a Southeastern and national Dean’s List student. She held the title of Miss Slidell last year and was runner-up in the Miss Southeastern pageant.
      An elementary education major, Landry is the sweetheart of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and is the daughter of Debra and Lou Rousse. She was chosen as recruitment counselor of the year by Southeastern’s Panhellenic Council and is a member of the Order of Omega, Gamma Beta Phi, the Dream Team and the Ladies of the Green and Gold. She also is a Green “S” recipient and was named in “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
      Faraone, the daughter of Mary and Peter Faraone, is a theater major and sweetheart of the sophomore class. Active in the Student Government Association, she has served as the organization’s Senate chair and vice-chair and as a Supreme Court justice. She also is a member of the Ladies of the Green and Gold, the student technology fee committee, and has appeared in Southeastern Theatre productions.
      Lewis is a Human Resource Management major and beau of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, for which he also serves as president. The son of Carrie Lee and Willie Lewis, he is vice-
president of fraternities for the Pan-Hellenic Council, and a member of the Southeastern Gospel Choir and the SGA Senate. He is a recipient of Southeastern African-American achievement awards.
      Monteleone, the son of Pamela Herring, is an accounting major and is beau of the
Lionettes. He is a Dean’s List student and a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, for which he serves as treasurer and associate member educator.
      A psychology major, Bradshaw is beau of the junior class and also served on last year’s Homecoming court. He is the son of Louise and Edward R. Bradshaw. Bradshaw is coordinator of the SGA’s “Roomie Aides” leadership program, philanthropy chair of Theta Chi fraternity, and an ExCel scholarship recipient.
      Parker, beau of the Dream Team, is the son of Doris Kimble and the Rev. and Mrs. Charlie Parker. A general business major, he is a Dean’s List student and serves as president of Southeastern’s NAACP chapter, Baptist Student Union parliamentarian, and SGA student organizations/Greek liaison. He is member of the Campus Activities Board and the university traffic appeals committee and is a resident assistant in Lee Hall.
      Ballard, beau of the sophomore class, is majoring in athletic training. The son of Barbara Ballard, he is a Dean’s List student and orientation leader and received the 2003 “Spirit of Orientation” award. He serves as marshal of Theta Chi fraternity and is a New Orleans Saints cheerleader.
      Grabert is the son of Cheryl and Lenny Grabert and is beau of the freshman class. A zoology major, he is a member of the track and field team, where he throws the javelin. He also is a member of the SGA Roomie Aides.
      Mills, beau of the Campus Activities Board, is a computer science major. He is the son of Diane Mills and Donald White. He was named CAB member of the year, received the Freshman Pinnacle Award, and is a Dean’s List student. He serves as publicity director for the Black Student Union and is a member of the NAACP, Dream Team, Southeastern Gospel Choir, and Project Pull.
