SOUTHEASTERN INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL HONORED
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana
University’s Inter-Fraternity Council, the governing body for all of the
university’s fraternities, brought home a number of awards from the recent
Southeastern Interfraternity Conference in Atlanta, Ga.
The IFC received the "Overall
Fraternal Excellence Award," "Excellence in Academic Achievement and Scholarship
Programming Award" and "Honorable Mention for Educational Programming,"
said Kay Harrison, director of Student Organizations/Greek Life.
Harrison said the IFC also was
honored with "Recognition for Excellence" designations in the areas of
IFC Management, Leadership Development, Legal Concerns, Philanthropy and
Community Services, Public Relations, Recruitment, Scholarship and Academic
Achievement, and Social Programming.
“Being recognized in so many
areas of excellence is rare for any IFC,” Harrison said. “The excellence
award recognition means that the council is exceeding the standard as compared
to other universities of our size.”
A voluntary association of fraternity
governing councils in the southeastern United States, SEIFC is one of the
six regional associations throughout North America designed to bring together
institutions and individuals with a commitment to fraternity life on college
and university campuses. |
