COLUMBIA THEATRE NOW OFFERING DISCOUNT LPO SEASON TICKETS
HAMMOND -- The Columbia Theatre
for the Performing Arts is now offering discounted packaged tickets for
all three 2004 Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra performances.
Performances included in each package are “Mostly Mozart” (Feb.
27), “Beethoven & Blue Jeans” (May 7) and the always popular
holiday concert (Dec. 3). All are scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Feb. 27 performance of “Mostly
Mozart” is the LPO's celebration of one of history's greatest creative
geniuses. Music Director Klauspeter Seibel will wield the conductor's baton
as the symphony performs the overture to the opera, “The Magic Flute;”
"Divertimento No. 1," and "Symphony No. 41" ("Jupiter," Mozart's final
symphony). As lagniappe, the musicians will also perform "Canzonas for
Brass" by 16th century composer Giovanni Gabrieli.
The LPO is back on May 7, bringing
its popular “Beethoven & Blue Jeans” series to the Columbia. For this
casual night at the Columbia, blue jeans are the uniform as Klauspeter
Seibel and the LPO perform Beethoven's "Pastoral Symphony." The symphony
will be joined by pianist Stewart Goodyear, an accomplished young artist
praised for his unique and flawless technique, in the "Piano Concerto No.
3."
Closing out the 2004 LPO season
at the Columbia Theatre is what is becoming a theater tradition of ringing
the sounds of the years gone by and infusing the season with cheer -- the
holiday concert on Dec. 3.
LPO discount season tickets at the Columbia are as follows: $75
Orchestra 1 and Loge; $65 Orchestra 2 and Balcony 1; and $55 Balcony 2.
These special ticket packages
are only available at the Columbia Theatre Box Office and must be purchased
before the first LPO performance on Feb. 27. The box office is located
in the downtown Hammond theater’s lobby, 220 E. Thomas Street, 985-543-4371.
Box office hours are noon to five p.m.. Feb. 9, 16, 19, 20 and 25-27. |
