SOUTHEASTERN’S “LE SOUVENIR” YEARBOOK HONORED AGAIN
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana
University yearbook staff has been recognized by Taylor Publishing Company
with an Award of Excellence honoring its accomplishments in yearbook design
and coverage.
Selected by judges as among the
best yearbooks, the 2003 “Le Souvenir,” is featured in the “2004 Yearbook
Yearbook.” The book was edited by graduate students Lee E. Lind of Hammond
and Sanela Osmanovic of Sarajevo, Bosnia.
“Taylor Publishing’s ‘Yearbook
Yearbook’ is the premier yearbook-specific design annual,” said its editor
Clif Palmberg. “Across the country, thousands of yearbook advisers, editors
and designers use this publication for design ideas. The schools featured
are some of the trend-setters of the industry.”
“This latest award illustrates
that cooperation, hard work and commitment to a job can produce success,”
said “Le Souvenir” adviser Matt Tarver, director of student publications.
“The students who worked on this yearbook overcame many unexpected obstacles
and combined their talents to produce what is regarded as one of the best
yearbooks in Southeastern history. They have done a wonderful job capturing
life on and around campus and are continuing to make Southeastern known
for its student publications.”
Yearbooks published by Taylor
for the 2002-2003 academic year were evaluated for excellence in cover
design, theme development and page design. Taylor Publishing recognizes
only the top five percent of yearbook staffs for outstanding yearbook achievement.
“The Award of Excellence is given
each year to a small percentage of yearbook staffs nationwide that demonstrate
excellence in yearbook creation,” said Mike Taylor, marketing manager at
Taylor Publishing. “We applaud these staffs for their outstanding work
and support their efforts in scholastic journalism.”
Last year, the 2002 “Le Souvenir”
was a semifinalist for citation in “Yearbook Yearbook,” and, in 2000, placed
second for cover design. Recent yearbook have also won honors from the
American Scholastic Press Association and the National College Media Advisers
Conference. |
