LIONS JOIN IN “READ ACROSS AMERICA” – As Southeastern Louisiana University’s mascot Roomie and Lions nose guard Steven Smith look on, quarterback Martin Hankins reads a Dr. Seuss story to young students at Southeastern Head Start. Roomie, Southeastern football players and Southeastern cheerleaders visited Head Start on March 2 as part of the university’s participation in the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day. Southeastern will celebrate America Reads Week with a party honoring Seuss’s 101th birthday at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 4. All area children and their parents are invited to the afternoon of family fun at the Hammond branch of the Tangipahoa Parish Public Library. For more information, contact Southeastern’s Office of Financial Aid at 1-800-222-SELU or 985-549-2244.
