PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE WINS AURORA AWARDS FOR VIDEO PRODUCTIONS
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern
Louisiana University Office of Public Information received five Aurora
Awards – including two “Best of Show” awards – for achievement in video
production.
The office was cited with
Platinum Best of Show awards in the corporate identity/image category for
“The NEW Southeastern,” a nine-minute video highlighting mission of the
university and recent innovations on the campus. The piece, which features
President Randy Moffett and a wide variety of faculty, students and alumni,
was scripted, videotaped, and edited by the staff of the Public Information
Office and airs regularly on the Southeastern Channel, the university’s
educational cable access channel.
Also receiving a Best of
Show award in the entertainment feature/short category was “The Punisher.”
Written and shot largely by local filmmaker Hobby Morrison and edited by
Public Information staff, “The Punisher” is a fictional story of a new
strength coach who instills a sense of purpose in the university’s second-year
football team.
Three entries received
second-place Gold Awards. “An Act of Bravery,” a video incorporating dance
and narrative to depict the efforts of a molestation victim to reclaim
her life, was cited for editing. The piece was produced and choreographed
by Southeastern dance professor Martie Fellom. “So Much More,” a 60-second
commercial about the university, received a Gold Award in the educational
institution category. An episode of the “Southeastern Times,” a 30-minute
quarterly news magazine produced cooperatively by the Public Information
Office, the Southeastern Channel and the Department of Communication, received
a Gold Award in the news magazine/interview category.
The Aurora Awards is an
international competition designed to recognize excellence in film and
video and focuses on non-national commercials, regional or special interest
entertainment and corporate sponsored film and video. |
