SOUTHEASTERN OUTLINES NEW PARKING AREAS
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University has developed several new permanent and temporary parking areas for faculty, staff and students to accommodate changes brought on by construction of new student housing.
“These changes should minimize any impact that construction will have on parking,” said Brad O’Hara, vice president for student and public affairs
      The changes include:
     · A new permanent parking lot for faculty, staff and upperclass students has been developed in the area between the Teacher Education Center and the Student Activity Center.
     · Pine Street between Dakota Street and McGehee Hall will be re-opened for faculty/staff parking.
     · A new parking area for freshman has been developed between the University Center and the Alumni Center. The lot provides easy access to the University Ave. pedestrian underpass connecting the north and south campuses.
     · Temporary parking is available at the Old Rugby Field east of Taylor Hall for upperclassman and residents of Taylor and Livingston halls. This area can be accessed from General Pershing Street.
     · Upperclassmen and residents of Lee Hall can access a temporary parking lot in the area between the University Police Department and Cefalu Coliseum on Virginia Avenue.
O’Hara said that students who live on-campus will be required to park in the areas designated for their residence halls between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“As the new residential halls become available in 2005, the temporary areas will be removed to be replaced by new, permanent parking areas located adjacent to the new facilities,” he added.
