SOUTHEASTERN SBDC HOSTS SUCCESSFUL SERIES SEMINARS
HAMMOND Throughout spring, the Southeastern Louisiana University Small
Business Development Center will host nine "Success Series" seminars designed with the small
businesses in mind.
Attendees will learn through the variety of lectures ranging from which tax laws apply to
their business to how to get the biggest bang for their advertising dollars.
The series will kick off February 8 with "Introductory Accounting," a three-hour seminar
explaining basic accounting terms, debits and credits, T accounts and financial statements.
Starting time is 6 p.m.
On February 22, Bryon Garrety of Durnin & James CPAs will tackle tax confusion by
discussing tax issues that effect small businesses. The three hour lecture begins at 5:30 p.m.
Next in the series is "Quickbooks Pro," a two-night seminar covering topics such as
setting up finances in Quickbooks 2000, maintaining the information, generating reports and
more. Registration is $100 for the 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 5 and 7 lecture.
Also scheduled for the Success Series seminars is "Insurance" on March 12, "Marketing
Research," March 26, and "Advertising: Getting the Biggest Bang for Your Buck," April 18.
Dates and times for "Payroll Taxes," and "Legal Forms in Business" are to be announced.
All seminars except "Quickbooks Pro" require a $10 registration fee. Pre-registration is
required for all Success Series seminars and special rates are available for those registering for all
nine.
