SLU DANCEWORKS PRESENTS “RANGE OF MOTION” 
      HAMMOND –Southeastern Louisiana University’s resident dance company, Danceworks, along with Impulse Dance Theatre from the Louisiana School for Math, Science and Art, will present “Range of Motion” Thursday, March 20 at Vonnie Borden Theatre.
      Directed by Southeastern dance professor Martie Fellom, the free performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The concert will include choreography by Randy Allen, director of Impulse Dance Theatre, and Southeastern students Jessica Burke of Mandeville, Michele Cudd of Hammond, Ronee Klingman of Baton Rouge, and Alison Maraman and Ashley Roberts of Slidell, all of whom will also perform.
      The nine part program will feature three dances choreographed by Allen and starring the Impulse Dance Theatre dancers. “A Thunder in the Heart,”set to the music of Kudo, a traditional Japanese drum corps, is fast paced dance, beginning and ending with sharp and powerful movement. “Majestic Flight,” set to Loreena McKennitt’s music, transforms from a moving lyrical solo to a driving group dance with scarves. Closing out Allen’s choreography is “Mobyessence,” an 11 section piece ranging in style and dynamics set to the music of Moby.
      Allen, a dancer, choreographer, musician, director, and instructor of modern dance, jazz and ballet, is a graduate of Florida State University. He has performed and danced extensively in France with Jean-Marc Matos and Company and in New York with June Finch and Dancers, Meg Harper and Company, and the Marjorie Gamso Dance Company. He is a former instructor of dance at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, and co-director of dance at Harrison Arts Center in Florida. In 1998, Allen was nominated for the American Choreographer Award.
      Members of Impulse Dance Theatre are Danielle Billings of Destrehan, Caroline Bordelon and Jennifer Dhir of Mandeville, Kristin Brassett of Baton Rouge, Courtney Costello of Bastrup, Kathleen Elstrott of Ponchatoula, Derek Little of Bogalusa, Rachel Powell of Eunice, and Elizabeth Turner of Walker.
      Danceworks members starring in the production include Lisa Belanger of Houma, Jarrod Cashe of Hammond, Lauren Fairbanks of West Monroe, Patience Impson of Baton Rouge, Felicia Indest of Ponchatoula, Kristin Brooke Johnson of Oakdale, Karen LeBlanc and James M. Porche of New Orleans, Jessica Lee of Kentwood, Alison Maraman of Zachary, and Stacie Sabathe of Chalmette.
