SOUTHEASTERN SBDC DISASTER RELIEF WORKSHOPS CONTINUE THROUGHOUT
OCTOBER
HAMMOND – The Southeastern
Louisiana University Small Business Development Center and area business
and economic development organizations are continuing to host a series
of workshops offering disaster relief assistance for business owners.
Assistant Director Sandy
Summers said more than 500 business people have attended the help sessions,
which have been held in Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, Washington and Livingston
parishes since mid-September. The Southeastern SBDC is also fielding as
many as 300 calls a day from business people seeking information and advice
on the application process.
The workshops, which will
continue through October, are designed for business people in a declared
disaster area who have suffered damage to their business or loss of sales
from Hurricane Katrina. They may be eligible for federal disaster assistance
through the Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Program.
Additional workshops are
being offered Monday, Oct. 10 through Friday, Oct. 14, in Washington, Livingston
and St. Tammany parishes. The sessions are free, but participants are urged

Oct. 10, 9 a.m.-noon, Southeast Louisiana Business Center, 1514 Martens
Drive, Hammond;
Tuesday,
Oct. 11, 9 a.m.-noon, Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce, 608 Willis Ave., Bogalusa;
Wednesday,
Oct. 12, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m., Southeastern St. Tammany Center, 214
Koop Drive, Mandeville;
Thursday,
Oct. 13, 9 a.m.-noon, LA DOTD Federal Credit Union, 1620 South Range Ave.,
Denham Springs;
Friday,
Oct. 14, 9 a.m.-noon, St. Tammany Parish Library, Slidell branch, 555 Robert
Blvd., Slidell.
Participants should bring any available information regarding their
businesses, including income tax returns, balance sheets, profit and loss
statements, damage descriptions and proof of insurance. Businesses
that do not have access to records will still be able to apply for assistance.
Workshop co-sponsors include the
Chambers of Commerce of Bogalusa, Denham Springs, Slidell, Hammond and
St. Tammany West; the Dixie Development Center, Livingston Economic Development
Council, LA DOTD Federal Credit Union, Hammond Industrial Development Board,
St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, Tangipahoa Economic Development
