SOUTHEASTERN CHANNEL SHOWS SHOWCASE LIONS FOOTBALL SEASON KICKOFF
HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University fans can get ready for some football all next week on the Southeastern Channel, the university’s education access channel on Charter Cable channel 18.
General Manager Rick Settoon said “Southeastern Football: Season Two,” a 30-minute preseason look at the upcoming Lion season, will air on the Southeastern Channel on Aug. 30-Sept. 1 leading up to the Sept. 2 opener against Arkansas-Monticello.
He said the channel will also air a season preview edition of the weekly Hal Mumme Show and replays of the season opener.
“Southeastern Football: Season Two” will air at 8 p.m., Aug. 30; 6:30 p.m., Aug. 31; and 6:30 p.m., Sept. 1. The show celebrates the second year of Southeastern football after its return from an 18-year absence begun in 1986.  I
“It features Coach Hal Mumme taking a look back at each game of the 2003 season and an in-depth analysis of each opponent of the upcoming 2004 season, beginning with Thursday’s season opening opponent, Arkansas-Monticello,” Setton said. The show includes interviews with top coaches and players from the Southland Conference, along with features on record-setting Lion quarterback Martin Hankins and the Lions’ off-season conditioning program spearheaded by strength coach Matt Walters.
“Season Two” was produced by channel staff members Todd Dunnington, operations manager, and Paul Catalanotto.
Settoon said the season preview edition of the Hal Mumme Show will appear at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1 and again at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2, right before the 7 p.m. kickoff of the Lions’ season opener against Arkansas-Monticello in Strawberry Stadium. The channel will broadcast the Southeastern-Arkansas-Monticello game at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3.
In addition to the Arkansas-Monticello contest, Settoon said the channel will also air replays of the McNeese State, Sam Houston State, Northern Colorado and Alcorn State games. The rebroadcasts will air at 8 p.m. Thursdays, 8 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Sundays.
“We’re excited about Lion games airing on the Southeastern Channel again this season,” said Settoon. “We had terrific response from our audience last season, and with the channel’s expanded reach throughout the entire north shore region this fall, we can bring the games to an additional 70,000 homes on Charter Cable.”
The Hal Mumme Show, hosted by “Voice of the Lions” Tommy Krysan, will be taped weekly at Café Louisiane in Hammond. After its Sept. 1 debut, Settoon said the show will air at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays prior to the channel’s rebroadcast of Southeastern games. The show will re-air at 7:30 a.m. on Fridays and at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
The Southeastern Channel now airs in Tangipahoa, St. Tammany and Livingston Parishes on Charter Cable Channel 18 and on Channel 17 in Washington Parish, reaching a potential audience of 240,000 viewers.
