TEACHERS GAIN SCIENCE CONTENT AT SOUTHEASTERN WORKSHOP – Rhett Allain (left), assistant professor in the Southeastern Louisiana University department of chemistry and physics, observes teachers Todd Oalman of Hammond Westside and Vivica McCraney of Hammond Junior High as they conclude an experiment being conducted during a special teacher training workshop recently concluded at the university. Approximately 20 teachers from Tangipahoa, Bogalusa and Washington Parish school districts participated in the program, which was designed to provide teachers with a concentrated program of scientific content. Allain said the goal is to provide the continuing education teachers need to meet the “highly qualified” level required in the No Child Left Behind federal legislation.
