STEPHEN SOUTULLO NAMED DEAN OF ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
HAMMOND -- Veteran Southeastern Louisiana University administrator Stephen Soutullo has been named dean of Enrollment Management.
A member of the Southeastern staff for more than two decades. Soutullo has served as director of Academic Services since 1999. His new title, approved in June by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, reflects Soutullo’s role as coordinator of Southeastern’s university-wide student recruitment and retention initiatives, said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs John Crain.
“As director of Academic Services, Mr. Soutullo has championed the development of Southeastern recruitment and retention plans,” said Crain. “The additional duties associated with coordinating recruitment and retention efforts is a natural expansion of his responsibilities and will ensure their successful, long-term implementation, assessment and continued development.”
As dean, Soutullo will continue to oversee the operations of Southeastern’s admissions, financial aid, and records and registration areas.
A native of Gretna, Soutullo has served in a number of positions during his 22 years at Southeastern, including registrar and director of High School Relations, Placement and Enrollment Services. His service to the university was recognized in 1998 when he received one of the university’s prestigious President’s Awards for Excellence.
Soutullo led the team that successfully implemented a new PeopleSoft administration software system for the admissions, recruitment, records, registration, financial aid and student finance areas. Under his leadership, Southeastern has implemented a number of high tech options for students, including online application and registration procedures, and telephone grade submission and verification.
A member of a number of professional organizations, Soutullo has served as president of the Louisiana Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. As a recruiter, he received both national and state recognition from the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers for innovative programs, such as establishing an annual series of statewide workshops for high school counselors and college recruiters. He also has been active in organizing and operating state and district literary rallies. Soutullo currently is a member of the Louisiana Board of Regents’ Council of Enrollment Management Officers.
