SLU CAMPUS EMERGENCY LOCATOR SERVICE
HAMMOND -- Your kids are back in school -- and so are you. So what happens when
your child has an emergency, his or her school needs to find you, but you're in class?
If you're a Southeastern Louisiana University student, you don't have to worry. You
know that the Emergency Locator Service will track you down on campus and deliver the
message.
Southeastern's Office of Adult, Commuter and Veterans Services (ACVS) coordinates
the service which has been in effect on campus since January.
"This is one of our most popular services," said Milas Love, ACVS director.
Love stresses that this service is limited to emergencies only and only applies to those
individuals that the student lists on the form. To participate a Southeastern student must fill out
an Emergency Locator Form and provide a schedule of where he can be found on campus each
day.
Forms are available at the ACVS office, Student Union room 204, or can be completed
on the ACVS web page. Students can change and adjustment the information when necessary.
Should a student need to be reached in an emergency, the student's parents or a child's school
can contact ACVS and a staff member will locate the Southeastern student.
The Emergency Locator Service is just one of a growing list of services that ACVS
provides. The department is continually developing services and activities and welcomes
suggestions. For more information visit the ACVS office in the Student Union, call at 549-2213
or vist the web page at www.selu.edu/ACVS.
